In another center we used treasure chests and gems to count. We rolled a dice and put that number of gems in our treasure chest! We also used magnetic numbers to create equations. Some of us even used the magnetic numbers to skip count. Our last center was on the computer where we played math games from funschool.kaboose.com! Meet our new teaching Intern!

Dear Families,

My name is Lauren Ashley and I will be joining Mr. Turner’s classroom this spring as a graduate student intern. I am currently attending Marymount University to earn my Master’s degree in PK-6 Elementary Education in the Professional Development School Program. I look forward to working at Jamestown Elementary School and getting to know the students and community.

I have lived in Arlington, Virginia since I was four years old. I graduated from Virginia Tech where I earned a Bachelors of Liberal Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies, a degree plan for students majoring in Elementary Education. I have just finished my fall internship at Patrick Henry Elementary School where I was working with a third grade class. I have also taught summer school through Arlington County Public Schools for the past four summers. I am looking forward to working with your children this spring!

Throughout my education I have had wonderful teachers who were engaging and excited to teach. I look forward to providing that same enthusiasm to your children!

With Kind Regards,

Lauren Ashley
